San Juan Piñas is located in the Western region of Oaxaca, and its Mixteco variant shares similarities with many of the variants commonly spoken in California. However, the level of compatibility depends on the exposure and familiarity that community members have with this specific variant.
Mixteco is not a one-size-fits-all language—some variants differ only slightly, while others vary significantly in pronunciation and structure.
